February 9th, 2026 - Paid Newsletter Members

I have been diving deep into how to ‘up my game’ in the Hickory landscape. With over 600 subscribers to this newsletter, almost 900 on Facebook, and all the other platforms I have a decent size platform over all but, I want to keep fanning the flames because where I feel this is headed, where we are going, and what I was doing wasn’t going to get me there.

I wanted to create a ‘file’ or as the hip cool kids call it a ‘lead magnet.’ Something you give for free for signing up to the newsletter.

I wanted to share it with you first before releasing it into the wild.

When someone signs up for the newsletter / go to the website THIS will be sent to them, the lead magnet.

It’s not 100% ready to hit the streets yet and incorporate it into the Algo(rithm) yet. BUT!

I wanted to share it first with you and give me some feedback if you can.

Networking Groups

Hickory, North Carolina (and surrounding areas)

By: Chris Goldby ∣ Hickory Algorithm

This is designed to save you time and give you a breakdown of all the groups in our area to help you decide if any are for you or not. I’ll tackle the types of groups first, the groups themselves, and then contact information if you want to go check out to visit one of these groups, believe me they are open to you visiting. Email the contact person and reach out to be a visitor for that group. Maybe one of these groups will be put in your new work algorithm.

Types of groups: Formal, Leads, and Networking

Formal:

· Plan to have a structured meeting with a handout

· Have a 30 second ‘elevator pitch’

· Expect to be there for 1.5+ hours

· Presenter every meeting

· Referrals are documented

· Have leaderboards

· Before and after networking

· Have significant cost

· Strict attendance

· Seat exclusive

Seat Exclusive – only one person per industry can be in the group. One roofer, one plumber, one mortgage lender, etc. etc..

· Now there can be a ‘commercial realtor, listing agent (realtor), and sometimes those main seats like ‘realtor’ can be broken out into subcategories if the ‘main’ seat holder permits it – most don’t though.

Pros: Structured, same thing every time, aggressive with the a leaderboard

Cons: A lot of representatives and not decision makers. If you have a few people in the group that are not carrying their weight, the room will quickly become deflating.
